DO YOU ONLY SHOOT WEDDINGS?

No, but thats what I love. If you ask me, I'll tell you I'm a wedding photographer. I love every single thing about it and I feel like things have only just begun.

Followed quickly behind weddings is anything bridal, bride or boudoir related.

I also love a good Trash the Dress session!

WHAT IS THE "CRAZY BOOTH EXPERIENCE"?

you know that lull at weddings when the dinner is almost over and the dance is just getting started? everyone wants to party but they just aren't quite ready yet... well, this is an opportunity to help everyone loosen up a bit, let their freak flags fly and use lamps shades as a totally acceptable prop. we'll set up a little white booth, a few lights, a dedicated camera and add Marty, the kilt wearing Cape Bretoner to bring the fun out of even the quietest wedding guest.

DO YOU SHOOT FAMILY + KIDS?

Yes, if we can do it my way! you know that 'think outside the box' saying? well, we like to get outside of the box and then run as far away from everyone that seems to be gathered around outside that box. if you're wiling to get excited about a family shoot and throw some creativity into it...I'm in.

HOW DO WE GET STARTED?

you're already on your way.

we assume that if you've gotten this far then you like what you see and you want some! now all we need to do is decide on a date that works for both of us and we're rollin'.

if you haven't had a chance to check out our work then you probably should. it's really important to us that we're the right fit for you.

if you've already got a killer outfit/wedding dress/secret location or idea for a shoot....I'm in. if everyone is thinking about wearing jeans and white tops then I am probably NOT the right photographer for you. you're too unique to all wear the same thing.

if you're thinking about having your wedding photos taken in the Public Gardens then I'm probably NOT the photographer for you either. I promise to take you places where we will not run into another wedding couple.

WHAT DO WE WEAR?

if you're getting married thats pretty simple. just remember, you own the dress. it doesn't own you!

if its boudoir...Nirah will help you with all of that. If she can't find something, she'll make it!

if we're talking creative portraits it all depends on the plans we make! I've got a sketch book full of ideas just waiting for creative families to say 'we'll do whatever you want'

WHAT HAPPENS ON MY WEDDING DAY?

here's what I know for sure: you will get dressed, walk down the aisle, slip into the ring, kiss and party.

I might call your parents 'Mom' and 'Dad', I'll have a drink w your best man, make sure to stop and talk to your Nanna and even tell you which side the the boutonniere goes on.

I might take you to run down buildings, pose you among random objects, sidestep No Trespassing signs and get the authorities to laugh when we tell them what we're up to.

I try to create images for you that will make your friends jealous.

WHAT ABOUT A PORTRAIT SHOOT?

same thing....except that we don't recommend you take your Nanna this time! Portrait shoots last about 2 hours but if we're feelin it...we'll shoot until the batteries run out.

HOW MANY IMAGES DO YOU TAKE?

wedding collections usually have about 400-500 images. we do NOT machine gun your wedding and drop 1000 images on you. every image has a story and all of them are worth waiting for. if your Dad cries...we're gonna get the first tear.

portrait collections typically have 40-50 final images. same approach. less crying.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

i would describe it as mine!

i also think Converse Chucks are suitable wedding shoes for a bride, groom or photographer. tattoos are awesome and

love does not always need to look at the camera and smile.

i hope its a style that you want to be a part of.

WHERE IS 'APPLEHEAD STUDIO'?

wherever you want it to be!

while we do have actual studio space in the Roy Building on Barrington Street in downtown Halifax, this is reserved for (very) cold weather and certain projects that call for studio work.

we have a 'one shoot per day' policy so you get our complete and undivided attention and creativity.

WHAT IS A VIEWING SESSION?

its an experience you're going to love.

about 2 weeks after the shoot we'll set you up w an appointment time for you come to the studio (see, we do use the it for some stuff). we'll set up a giant screen and show you your new favorite images. we'll wow you w gallery wrapped canvas images, custom design albums, big ass art prints....and those little 5x7 and 8x10 gift prints. But really, we didn't get together and create all this awesomeness for a couple 5x7s did we?

we'll help you decide what to do with all these images you've just fallen in love with.

you order. i sit in a corner and edit.

after that it's about 2-8 weeks (albums take longest) to get your final collection.
