Brad and Mike had a job to do at Sarah + Tyler’s wedding on New Year’s Eve at Pier 21. At midnight, their job was to fire off the confetti guns. Now confetti guns alone are normally enough to get me excited at a wedding reception. Steph and I talked about ‘the shot’ all night...

In regards to the “I’m a photographer I can shoot anywhere statement”. It is VERY true that if you are skilled you CAN shoot in any setting, bright sunlight does not mean the camera will decide. “AHHH SUNNNN, frig that, I’m done”. However, that being said, as a photographer it is also our responsibility to ensure that the light in the photographs will be as equally beautiful as our clients. So when we say “let’s shoot in the shade”, it’s LITERALLY because you will get farrrr more beautiful photographs in the shade then you would in direct sunlight any day. Or if it is suggested to shoot at night or in evening, your photographer is doing it because they CARE about the quality of the light in the photographs. When it comes down to it, we want you to be beautiful!!
ok i know that you don’t like being part of the crowd, but funny while I was away on vacation I was thinking I need NEED to do a post about couples and how they can maximize their photography time by well…doing all the things you mentioned!

You know what Liam, I was thinking some of these VERY thoughts as I drove home from my last wedding… that if the photographer’s time gets cut due to other priorities– then expectations of posed photos MUST change, and clients should be prepared for that by us before the wedding, and time of day should be considered by the couple in the beginning stages of planning, along with location– and for the love of God do not pick a flower bed for a photo location or I will be shooting close crops the entire time just to avoid the flowers! Well stated and love the photos

Amanda + Tony got married at the Inverary Inn in Baddeck over the weekend and the forecast said hot and sunny. Amanda told me they were going for an 8.30am run and Tony was teeing off at 9am so Steph and I jumped at the chance to get outside and do some early morning shooting....

I love the multiple versions of each scene. I have been telling some photographers for a while now, that if you want to show more of the story behind each wedding give the viewer more looks at parts of the wedding you feel is important. I feel like I was at this wedding and I don’t think I would have gotten the same feeling from just one image of the reception.Bravo great work brother.
