Hey Liam,
I didn’t know about your mom….cancer runs through my family like the plague…wish I could give the details of which one but the truth is, we just have a weakness and it finds its way in wherever it sees an opportunity at that time….Small world after all huh? I’m very proud of you and your mom for doing this….it hits home to me as I have seen family members claimed by this awful illness. My compliments on your photography and I wish you and your mom tons of luck during your speach!!
Liam…….. you have spoken through your photos. What a wonderful tribute yet again to your awesome mom. You have touched more lives than you know with your photos and slideshow. Keep up your incredible work!
Liam,
This is really special and a wonderful tribute to the courage and commitment of both you and your Mom. Clearly you are living your dream…turning life into magic and vice versa (even in the less than ideal moments of life)….you must be so proud of what you have created. I am really happy for you and so pleased that you have been recognized for how you are able to capture the essence of EVERY moment and imprint that image on everyones heart. I hope your Mom continues to triumph and enjoy the glory of her wonderful son….

I wish I had a book for everyone to see. The passion and beauty brought to life from something so tragic is absolutely amazing. There are not enough kinds words I can send your way Liam, for your generosity & big heart. I believe good things will continue to happen to you. Your passion for photography deserve big returns. While in your studio, I actually thought to myself, “where would he ever get a coach like that.”
Nice story.

marse & i got married in Margaree Harbour almost 2 years ago. out on a cliff. out of range of cell phones and high speed internet and surrounded by our best friends. in my humble opinion its one of the most beautiful places in the world and we want Lola to experience it as much...

so I’ve never entered a photo in a competition before. I have a few for next years PPOC and maybe the WPPI but a few weeks ago I sent in a wedding image called Smart Move, to a wedding photo competition put on by Willow Paper Works. Here’s the image: It took 3rd place (I...

Liam…I am truly amazed! We’re so happy to hear that you got third place! Your work is amazing. You have captured our day in such a beautiful way. As a budding photographer, with no good camera, I’ll continue to follow your work. You’re such an inspiration.
Awesome…Liam, I truly am speechless. You have captured our wedding day in such a beautiful way. As a photographer with no camera, I will always follow your work. Congrats!!!
Liam, your ego should be proud! You placed among quite a few other really great entries
I actually had a hard time deciding whether this was my 2nd or the 3rd place winner. I, too, have many favorite images that are not perfectly exposed, or not as sharp as could be, but I love them. They have impact. This is why yours is really great. As I mentioned in my original comments, the slight softness and underexposure are minor things really. When judging images (I have judged for WPPI and PPA), I look for little things that could have pushed it up to perfection – but they aren’t things to really get too worried about. Many times they are completely subjective. I’ve realized that myself having my own prints judged in competition too. The feeling and originality is there in this image and that really makes it strong.
I did feel that the cropping could be improved by not having their heads in the center of the horizon. Cutting a bit off the top where the heavy dark area is would have felt a bit better. A panorama maybe? Yes, I think it would look cool as a pano.
Great job entering and congrats on your win! I hope to see more of your work
Nice work Liam – Congrats!!
Constructive criticism, if accepted as exactly that, only makes us better at what we do. Keep at it Liam and before you know it you will be winning 1st place awards left and right!!!

so tonight was a pretty cool nite. marse and I had dinner with 2 very awesome wedding photographers and their assistants spouses. it’s a lot of fun to sit around and talk about wedding photography and throw out ideas and share ideas all in the name of mutual respect. i left feeling inspired. then we found out...

Ahh the money shots of Declan – Nicole (of BB+B) told me you had posted these so I had to look. We LOVE these pictures of our Decs. I could look at them forever. Especially when he’s screaming like a pterodactyl and I want to remember happier times… gorgeous!
Hey Liam
Remember the day we did some massage hours at a Nurses Week celebration in Milford MA? You had your massage table and I had my chair and when someone came in I pointed to my chair and said “would you rather be seated ” then pointing to you “or would you rather get laid??????????” If I only had a camera then to capture the look of complete and utter horror on your face! HAHHA
Marianne
BTW Your pics are beautiful! I love the ones of the babies.

i have no idea what html is. but i can manipulate it. i have a phenominal webhost they hook me up in minutes. eastlink makes me wait for a full day for a cable outlet. there’s no waiting w Aperture for anything. all this backend world wide web stuff is bringin me down. too much MAC time...

You wanna see a dino…i gots a TREO (about to blog a story about it actually). I pulled it out last night in front of Paul (LeBlanc) and he said…”for the love of gawd, cash your pogie cheque, man up and get a god damn new phone you cheap beotch”. I too stare at the flashing light

my high school days flashed before my very eyes a few weeks ago when I shot an event for a group of seniors from Halifax Grammar School. i’m really looking forward to doing more grade grad/senior work this year. All I have from my senior prom are a few goofy grad photos in a cape...

I just happened across your site and found these Grammar School Prom shots from last year. You should have a display set up at the school or at the very least share your site address through the Grammar Newscast so people that are interested in them can check you out. Most people would not think to hire a photographer for Prom photos but I support the idea completely. Great work! And…all the kids at Grammar are COOL!!

Lola’s been sick the last week or so. kinda thought it was teething but it was a double ear infection, ruptured ear drum and strepp throat. she was a pile of sickness and it sucked. got us some penicillin from the awesome Dr Gallagher and later that nite Lola was up for a photo shoot....

thank you. these are the best ever.

if you know me, you know how ironic it is that, on my Mom’s last day of chemotherapy, Lisa Raitt is on the cover of the Chronicle Herald with her cancer comments in print. Fresh off the Wifag OF370 coldset printing press. unless asked, i don’t really talk about it with anyone. not marse. not...

Hi there, I just came across your blog and enjoyed reading your posts. This particular post though, made me stop and want to comment. Our family has gone through this and like you, I never talk about it. Kuddos to you for documenting the day and I wish your mom many more years of good health.
Liam,
You're mother is a brave soul. This was very good of you..
Anthony
A picture's worth a thousand words, a slideshow leaves me speechless.
Love,
Sue and Sean Rose
xoxo
If we all had an ounce of that strength we would be mighty people!!
Love Hannem
"A picture is worth a thousand words", your slideshow tells a story of love, fear, strength beyond strength, medicine, media, courage, and the most of all..the power of love and support.
I have also climbed this climb with my Mum and though the thought of the illness stills terrifies me, the hours, days spent sitting by her side during chemo are moments I will cherish for life.
Thank you for reminding me to hug the ones I love and forgive the ones I do not. Your Mum is a strong, strong woman and your pictures portray this beautifully.
Beautiful, Liam, really beautiful….
Beautiful slideshow, very moving. I wish you and your mother well.
your mom is beautiful. and this slideshow is gorgeous.
Liam, such a beautiful slideshow about a harsh and hard experience… wow is all I can really say
Renee
Thats really powerful… and empowering! Way to own it, Liam's mum!
What a perfect way for you to capture this moment in both your lives. You are God's gift to one another. Live, love, laugh and embrace every moment given to you. With love for both of you….Allyson
That's my Baby Sister. My true Soul Sister. My "twin". My hero. We shared texts today during chemo, from Red Deer to Halifax and back, from early morning. I wept tears of profound love and of jubilant joy at the mountain she has climbed. I was privileged to be there to share some of the climb. It's not sexy.
Liam, you are a gift – to your Mom (because she tells me so), and to those whose lives you touch in such meaningful ways. Like this. I truly know how much courage it took for you to shoot this today, to capture the profile in courage that you call "Mom". God bless you, my darling. God bless you.
How would I describe the impact of this magnificent tribute? This is POWERFUL. Beautiful. Honest. Raw. Poignant. Inspiring. Captivating. Provocative. Comforting. Victorious. Celebratory. Look at the gentle caring of those dear nurses as they tend to this wonderful woman. It's my sister Judy showing the world how to "do life". Do you realize how much your own precious heart shows through the lens. I love her. I love you. I thank you. From the bottom of my heart, dear Leo. What else can I say…..
"Aunt Rhoda"
xoxoxo
Liam, that is the most wonderful tribute. You captured it all…… I could feel it all. I had to watch it twice….. The second time I could see the pictures more clearly. I know you didn't do it for me……but THANK YOU! Talk about it or not, I HEARD you. xo
That was the most moving slideshow I have ever seen. Judy you are absolutely AMAZING both inside and out. It's beautiful, strong women like yourself that make being a nurse worth every moment;) Joann
Thanks so much Liam. I wish I was there to return the 1,000 perfect hugs I've gotten from Judy over the years.
Liam, I have no words.
This is beyond moving, and yes, Your Mom will be around a very long time.
Celebrate.
best. slideshow. ever.
I haven't seen the slideshow yet, and I was aware you had an ill family member. You are an awesome person. This blog and the atttitude towards the whole thing is truly and inspiration. Thanks!
