Here’s a b side from a shoot Steph and I did for Gio a few weeks ago and this was something we tried along the way to the final image. The final version… The Gio page on facebook has a chance to win dinner for 6 hosted by Vince and if someone wins it I...

Shootin’ Hoops. Boudoir or something like it…

Hoops (as we now affectionately call her) said she wanted to do a boudoir shoot or something like it. We had some rooftop access over looking all of Halifax and the rain held off just long enough to get outside and shoot for 10 minutes. Pin it

Table Sessions. Very Different Family Photography

Marcia is probably the most laid back wife a guy could ever ask for. Seriously. When Lola was born she insisted on one thing. She wanted, whenever possible, to sit down at the table as a family for dinner (supper if you’re from Cape Breton). She did it with her family and I did it...

Fallon and the silver fox fur boudoir shoot

Some things are worth waiting for. This shoot with Fallon was one of them. After many, many months of planning, plotting, rearranging and re-planning we finally hit the studio for a boudoir shoot. The plan: a fur coat shoot. Silver fox fur to be exact. Makeup Artist: Vicky Mina (thanks Vicky!) Hair: Cara MacInnis (thanks...

Wedding Photography Shootout – Behind the Scenes Trash the Dress

It was pretty fun to edit my first video from beginning to end. I had zero knowledge of anything video related and shot the entire nite with a sort of ‘duh’ look on my face. Big thanks to Jeff Harper for his help leading up to this and to Jason LeFrense for his late night...

Wedding Photographer Shootout: Posers

Once again, five of Halifax’s finest wedding photographers (and me) hit the studio last nite to come up with ideas and then fight over who’s going to get to pop the flash first. If this was a typical classroom setting, the six of us would have all been sitting in the front row with our...

Free 10 Day Trial from a Halifax Wedding Photographer

You know what I love? 10 day free trails of anything. How cool is that? Where else but on the world wide web can you download an entire product and try it out for free for 10 – 30 days? Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign and countless other very expensive programs all offer free trials. I think...

Double Boudoir & Double Trash the Dress?

I remember the very first trade show I ever did. It was Reno, Nevada and we were unveiling the new Prometheus Pellet Fuel Basket. I tried to find a link somewhere but I can’t find it anywhere on the world wide web. So that will tell you how well that product went. (it was actually...

Tara - Love the red spot on the wall shot. Great colour contrast with the perfect texture in the brick. Makes the veil really pop.

tenzin gyatso - ignore all that. i was on about four or five days without a meal. barely remember writing that gibberish.

Amy Lynne - Wow…is all I can say.

tenzin gyatso - you were always right when i was off on a panel. not saying i’m right here, it’s just an opinion based on the eye. your honesty always made my work better.

applehead studio - its all good Tenzin. I dont expect you to like everything. I appreciate the honest comments more than anything.

tenzin gyatso - it was bugging me…nope, it’s not the veil. perhaps there were a few others taking shots here, as the five photographers note at the beginning says, so i don’t mean to insult anyone’s work.

i guess i could put it this way. when people say define the meaning of life in words, one would be hard pressed to do so. when i’ve looked at your images in the past, it’s easy to SEE the definition in the images.

when i look at a few of these, especially the ones with the shadows on the wall, it’s just not there. they don’t make me want to stare like i normally do, and my brain doesn’t transition into letting me take a long bike ride journey through the image. i’m skipping a few of the trails here and that doesn’t normally happen.

there are ones that take me on the journey, however, and they are primo. of course, i’m just a guy eating snacky smores and looking at a thing in a bag. what do i know?

tenzin gyatso - there are a couple of spectacular shots in there, but i can’t say i like a lot of these ones too much. sorry. maybe it’s the veil?

Cheryl - You send those moms my way…I’ll show them them the light.

Vicky - How can you pick just one favorite shot out of these? You’ve outdone yourself Liam, the one of just Debbie’s head in the veil with the light shining and the black background made my jaw drop.

jeff - Quack! Funny stuff … and awesome shots … you rock!

Tim - That’s my sister in law. Easy men, don’t make me get upset LOL

Heather Crosby Gionet - feed one duck…lol…right…
ps awesome shots…as always

Janice - love the tunage chosen for the slideshow. Almost bypassed the birdcage veil, as its a birdcage veil. really enjoyed, thanks for sharing. Mission accomplished, all I saw was that birdcage veil!!

Pat - Who is this woman? She is gorgeous? Is she single? Is she a full time model? Does she live in Halifax? Many men will be looking to put a ring on her. Great work – you will be in demand after this shoot !

Jenny G - Love the pics…and the soundtrack.

Nicole Delaney - Great job as always..love it

$500 000 headshot

Kim came to the studio last week because she needed a shot of herself for her website and branding. She is currently the head honcho at www.KimReardon.com (no she is not a duck). Marse has been after me for about 18m now to get health insurance, suggesting I can’t stand on the ledge of high...

Dawn + Chance // (un)portrait photography Halifax, Nova Scotia

Dawn Munden of Update Design saved my business. To think I almost painted the studio brown. Brown! it would have been like some African Safari photographic adventure in there! Dawn showed up, looked at me and said, “I know I can tell you this because we’re friends, “This is TOTALLY wrong’”.  As soon as all...
