I’m in.

We met Megan + Ryan at the studio last night and we knew one thing for sure, Ryan was doing this for Megan. He wasn’t too keen on having his photo taken. Well, I was excited to shoot so we did what we could to soften him up and help him relax. We bought him muffins and juice and i think that was the turning point because as we walked across a parking lot Ryan spotted a chair on wheels and said, “I want to rip down the street on that.” I beg your pardon? This was the guy who wanted nothing to do with this and would have been happy to cancel the session altogether. Who am I to tell a client No.

Thanks for the laughs guys. We’ll see you in October.

When Steph and I shoot engagement sessions there’s a lot of PDA. Go stand over there and kiss…now go stand over there and kiss….ok, one more time, go hop up there and kiss. Sometimes we all need to take a break from the necking in public and let it all hang out with something a little different. Who said engagement shoots have to be all kisses and hugs around Halifax anyway?

Amber + Greg…you killed it. We love you guys!

I’m looking forward to this wedding for three reasons.
1. there are a lot of wedding industry friends of mine all working on this wedding so I know its going to be incredible.
2. it brings together a bunch of people I consider friends and not clients and they all love to rock.
3. Robert + Magda (and her incredible dress) are up for anything and have this incredible chemistry that is so easy to photograph.

I think they were a bit skeptical when we met at Dal. They didn’t really want it to scream ‘school’ and I promised it wouldn’t.

Only a few more weeks until the wedding.

Dawn + Jon are going to have an incredible wedding w 200 people at Saint Mary’s Boat Club but we’re already looking forward to what might happen at midnight when the Boat Club shuts down. Banjos, guitars and old school patio lanterns!

I knew Vicky Mina was doing makeup for Jen so we decided to start at the studio.

Maybe it was the beer talking but I’m pretty excited to shoot for these guys in May. It should be a gigantic party and they’ve already warned us about certain friends and family members when its Crazy Booth time.

Do you know Penny MacKinnon from the Prince George? If you’re getting married in downtown Halifax then she’s someone you should talk to. She’s the person who makes things happen…and I mean that in a very gangster kind of way. Consider this…Hurricane Earle blows through in September and three quarters of the city is in darkness. Weddings around town were celebrating by candle. Meanwhile, Penny has the patio set up at the PG in mere minutes and by 3pm there’s a ceremony outside and the power is on. She makes things happen.

Robert + Magda are getting married at the Prince George in June but even that is not enough to get you permission to shoot on the roof of the hotel. So phone calls were made and the next thing you know we’ve got pass keys and a ‘forgiveness is easier than permission’ approach for rooftop access at the Cambridge Suites. We walked in and just said, ‘we’re Penny’s people’ and the next thing you know we’re 7 stories up and well beyond the protective barrier constructed for our safety.

Robert, Steph and I, at one point or another in the day, all thought it was way too cold to be shooting outside. Turns out Magda is the only tough one and so with a 3 to 1 majority…we listened to Magda!
